On Tuesday, a group of our volunteers, nurses and charity staff joined Nick, our professional musician for Christmas Carols. His sessions, paid for by our Dementia appeal donors, brought some festive spirit this week to the Elderly Care Ward at Frimley Park Hospital with a heartwarming performance of Christmas carols.
We were delighted to spread some festive joy by singing all the Christmas favourites for visitors and patients; creating moments of peace, reminiscence and connection.
Music has the unique ability to touch the hearts of those with dementia, rekindling memories, emotions, and experiences that may otherwise remain unspoken.
It was wonderful to see toes tapping, bodies swaying, and even some voices joining in song – a touching reminder of the power of music igniting warmth, reflection, and connection during this special season.
