The refurbished bereavement suite at Frimley Park Hospital – The Rowan Suite – was unveiled by Frimley Health Charity in December 2024.
It was vital to upgrade this space, as it offers a safe and calming space for families going through the most difficult of losses.
The plans for this refurbishment have been underway for eight years, making this milestone even more significant. The space includes a clinical room, a non-clinical room, a bathroom, and a nursery.
In addition to the aesthetic improvements made, many of the upgrades can’t be seen, as in response to family feedback, we have included things like soundproofing and climate control.
The delivery of this space was a team effort with input from bereavement midwives, maternity management, capital projects, contractors/builders, Farnborough Sands, 4Louis bereavement charity, and Frimley Health Charity.
Frimley Health Charity is exceptionally proud to have supported the project to redevelop the Rowan Suite. We completed this project alongside the capital projects team, creating a considerately designed, beautiful, and functional space.
A family who has benefitted from using the bereavement services and who attended the Rowan Suite opening, Ian and Vicky Stillwell said,
‘We just want to express how amazing the Rowan Suite looks now; everyone involved has done such a great job of making it a calm, quiet, and homely sanctuary for when people are going through an impossible time in their lives.
Again, a huge thank you to the midwife team, too; they are all incredible and helped make our short time with Taryn as special as it could be.’
This space was made possible thanks to incredibly generous donations, and we hope that this space will provide the calm and reflective space that bereaved families need.
