December can be a month filled with mixed emotions, and on the back of what has been an unrecognisable year for many, we were delighted when we saw how well the month started for two of our lucky lottery players.
Long term supporters and lottery players, Mr. Dancer and Mr. Dumbleton, both won a £1,000 prize in the 4th December draw, making them our 44th and 45th £1,000 prize winners since we started our lottery back in 2018.
Mr Dancer joined our lottery at Wexham Park whilst his Mum was there for palliative care, and she sadly passed away on 6th December 2018. On hearing the news of his win, he said “I don’t think it’s any coincidence that I’ve won the fantastic £1,000 lottery prize almost to the day of the 2-year anniversary of her passing. Mum is definitely looking over me!”
Our second winner, Mr. Dumbleton, signed up following an eight-week Cardiac Rehabilitation course at Frimley Park as he, in his own words “knew I should give something back to this excellent, caring hospital.” Like all our winners, the news was unexpected, and thoroughly appreciated, particularly given the timing!
Lottery and Fundraising Officer for the charity, Kirsty North enjoys giving winners a call to share the news of their win and shares that “Its nice to be able to brighten up someone’s day with a call to share unexpected, good news!”
Since launching our lottery, we have had 45 winners matching 5 numbers to secure a £1,000 prize, plus 2 lucky £10,000 prize winners, following a 6-number match. In addition to these large prizes, hundreds of players have won a smaller prize of £25 and £5.
During this time, the lottery has raised funds for our Stroke Appeal, Breast Cancer Research and our Covid-19 response as well as other, smaller projects.
Looking ahead to 2021, we will be supporting our recently launched Dementia Appeal alongside many other projects to improve the lives of staff and patients around the Trust.
