The incredible story of Dan Hurst!

The incredible story of Dan Hurst!

Whilst on holiday last year, Dan was in a serious accident and suffered a severe head injury where he was in an induced coma for 4 weeks, before being airlifted to Frimley Park Hospital. He spent 4 months undergoing intensive treatment, which involved relearning how to walk and talk.
Just 11 months after his accident, Dan took on the London Marathon and raised a phenomenal £8,913 to support the very hospital and Stroke Ward/team that helped to save his life and supported his recovery.
When we spoke to Dan he said:
“Spending around 8 months in hospital and rehab was the toughest experience I’ve ever faced. I want my fundraising to help support the amazing work that Frimley Health Charity and the NHS teams do every day. The care, rehabilitation, and ongoing support I received has played a huge role in not only my recovery, but it has helped me rebuild my life and given support to my family. I’d like to give something back to help others going through similar situations. I also want to show people that recovery is possible—even after something as serious as a traumatic brain injury. Taking on the London Marathon is my way of proving that, and hopefully inspiring others to stay positive and keep pushing forward.”
We are incredibly proud of Dan, who has chosen to use his platform to raise awareness and inspire others who are in their recovery journeys to not lose hope.
