Frimley Health Charity celebrates the Platinum Jubilee

Frimley Health Charity celebrates the Platinum Jubilee

Over the course of the Jubilee weekend, we had some amazing projects taking place, which truly turned our hospitals into a place to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee.

At Wexham Hospital a ‘Knit your socks off’ community group created a ‘Royal Tea Party’ topper and knitted some bunting for the tree stump outside the Maternity department. Emma Carr, from Frimley Health Charity says “For years we have had this tree stump wanting some love. I am so thankful to ‘Knit Your Socks Off’ for this incredible piece, it’s beautiful and allows us to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.”

An amazing mural to commemorate the Platinum Jubilee was painted outside Ward 7 at Wexham Park Hospital. As part of Wexham’s Jubilee celebrations local artist, Anna Haselden, from Alphabet Ink Studio came in and painted this beautiful mural for everyone to enjoy. @https://www.instagram.com/alphabetinkstudio

Frimley Hospital’s front entrance has been adorned with handmade flags from staff and local children. Special thanks to St Michael’s COE in Sandhurst, who sent over 200 flags back to us! Hannah Trenoweth, Marketing & Communications Manager at Frimley Health Charity says “We have been absolutely blown away by the community’s response to our Platinum Jubilee bunting design. Thank you so much to the children on our wards and the local schools which designed it. It now hangs in the reception of Frimley Park and the public have loved to stop and stare at the children’s designs.”

And finally, in a fitting lead up to Ascot and the Platinum Jubilee, Ascot Racecourse donated a print of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s horse ‘Estimate’ to Heatherwood hospital. The print, which was funded by the charity and is now exhibited in the hospital’s main stairwell, has created a flutter of excitement amongst staff when it was unveiled on Friday.

Katharine Horsfall, Associate Director Heatherwood Hospital says, “We are really honoured to have been gifted with a print of the Queens Racehorse in her Platinum Jubilee Year.  It is a wonderful photo that ties us to the Racecourse that we are so close to and is such a great part of our Ascot heritage.  It has an excellent position within our new hospital and will be enjoyed by staff, patients and visitors for many years to come.”
